Shadow Hearts: From the New World

(I write this because i have nothing else to write about...
Entire thing written by me.)
There is an interesting game i want to talk about...
The characters in the game are very interesting,
the battle system is interesting,
the plot is also very interesting.
I got hooked to this game since the 1st time i've played it.
Shadow Hearts: From the New World
And the characters and their story are below...
("Malice" is the power that comes from the hatred and evil thoughts of humans, and its appearance is a red light.)
("Will" is another power that opposes "Malice", capable of nullifying its effects, its appearance is a blue light.)


Name: Johnny Garland
Age: 16( later found out that he was actually 21)
Gender: Male
Element: None
Weapon: Knife(when imbuned with the power of Malice and turns into an energy saber, and turns into a dual-bladed energy staff during his Awaker form.)
Special Skill: Handy Tools(Uses everyday appliances to use special skills)
Release(Obtained later in the game, turns into the Awaker, which boosts his stats but unable to access his Handy Tools)
Story: A 16-year old boy who opened a detective agency, hoping to find clues about a horrible incident that happened 8 years ago that led to the death of his father, Graham and his sister, Grace. Along the story, he found out that "Lady" is actually his sister, and that he had died in the accident and was revived 5 years ago, and that he was also infused with the power same as that of "Lady". During the 1st time he transforms, he went out of control and attacked his friends, but was able to regain control when Shania releases the blue light, "Will".
I put him in the party at all times because he can use his "Handy Tools" skill "Snap" to obtain details from the enemies.

Age: 21
Gender: Female
Element: Dark
Weapon: Two small hatchets(During "Fusion", different fusions have either swords or doesn't use weapons when attacking.)
Special Skill: Fusion(fuse her body and spirit with ancient spirits to form powerful beings that have either higher strengh and intelligence compared to her normal form)
Story: Princess from a native tribe in the northern part of America. Seeks revenge after "Lady", who destroyed her village a few years ago. On a quest to obtain more fusion to gain the power to defeat "Lady".
One of the allies that you met early in the game. A very good character who has a high combo of attacks and of course, her power to be able to do "Fusion". I put her in the party for all parts of the game.


Name: Natan
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Element: Wind
Weapon: Two pistols
Special Skill: Gun-Fu (gun skill merge with martial arts)
Profile: As a Guardian of the princess of the tribe, Shania, and follow her during her path to avenge her tribe. Protective of Shania, even if it costs his life.
Well, one of the first allies you met at the beginning of the game, and his "Gun-Fu" is very good especially after completing his unique sidequests. For me, i stopped using him in my party when i got better characters, unless when i do his sidequests.


Name: Frank Goldfinger
Age: 46
Gender: Male
Element: Light
Weapon: Large swords.(Has a bad habit of attaching a sword hilt to anything that he can find to make a sword, eg a cactus, a swordfish and a japanese Kokeshi doll)
Special Skill: Ninja Arts
Story: A ninja who claims to have learnt ninjutsu from a hidden ninja village in the Amazons. Met the party during a visit to Arkham University to find the reason for monsters appearing there. Became the 4th member of the party.
A decent character. His ninja arts are powerful when he gets them, but his starting ones is aerial and doesn't hit enemies that are on the ground. I switched him out later in the game, but realize i need to level him up enough to finish his side quest because he has to do the fight 1-on-1...

Age: Over 100
Gender: Female
Element: Water
Weapon: Alcoholic Drinks
Special Skill: Drunken Fist
Story: Originally the master of Frank, then left and became the helper of the famous Mafia boss, Al Capone in Chicago. Agreed to help the team and give them some info on "Lady", in turn they must break someone out of the Alcatraz Prison. Always wanted to be a celebrity and started stooting her movie in Purramount Pictures in Hollywood, which she must pay the actors with "Cat Coins" to shoot her movie.
An Ok character. Her "Drunken Fist" skill "Cat Touch" is needed to complete her sidequest of becoming a movie star. I also switched her out but occasionally use her when needed to obtain more "Cat Coins".


Name: Hilda Valentine
Age: Over 400
Gender: Female
Element: Earth
Weapon: Wand(Slim), Giant Club(Curvy), None(Pink Bat)
Special Skill: Magic Arts (differs during her 3 different forms, unaccessible during her Pink Bat form)
Calorie Drain: Obtains or decreases kilocalories when used against enemies, affects her forms.
Story: A vampire who crashed in a spaceship and was mistaken as aliens and was taken to a research facility to be experimented. Busted out by the team(actually she broke the containment herself), and joins the team his her Curvy form. Not long after returned to her Slim form after sucking blood from Johnny.
A balanced character. Can be used in many different situations and the 3 forms mentioned earlier has different attributes too.
Slim Form: High Magic Offence and Defence, but lower Physical Defence and Offence.
Occurs when calorie meter is between -99 and -11. Can use Offensive Magic to damage enemies. Has rude and feisty personality.
Pink Bat: High attack power, at the cost of halving max HP and MP. Can't use Magic Arts. Occurs when calorie meter is between +11 and +99.
Curvy Form: High Physical Offence and Defence, but lower Magic Defence and Offence.
Occurs when calorie meter is between -10 and +10. Can use Defensive Magic such as Healing and Ressurecting spells. Has kind and compassionate personality.
When calorie meter is -100 or +100, she turns into either Slim Mask or Curvy Mask, which doubles her stats, making her very powerful. After 3 battles in Mask form, she turn back into Pink Bat form with 0 calories.
Is put in my party as soon as i got her.


Name: Ricardo Gomez
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Element: Fire
Weapon: Guitar(turns into artillery when doing attacks and special skills, such as a gun, a flamethrower and a missle launcher.)
Special Skill: Serenata (Plays melodies and songs using his guitar to give various effects like buff and special attacks. Requires various muse items to obtain more "Serenata" skills.)
Story: Was kidnapped by McManus, a rival of Al Capone, in suspect he helped Capone's escape from Alcatrz Prison, As Al Capone's sister, Edna Capone, is Ricardo's girlfriend. When Edna was mutated by Malice after receiving a kiss from Lady when she was killed by McManus, Edna begged Ricardo to kill her. After the fight, Ricardo swore that he would avenge her dead by killing Lady. He becomes the last party member of the team.
A good character to have because he can constantly buff up the team with his "Serenata". Also one of the member that i keep in the party for long term.

I highly recommend this game, and even if you don't have a PS2 you can just check out infos about this game. Enjoy~~~
